Organic, it is important

Montecalvi is an organic farm.

We are all quite aware of the principles of organic farming, and in our own small way, we try to eliminate chemicals such as fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides and fungicides from our diet and our environment. For many of us, it is important that our wine is also organic. But not only this-organic farming is a philosophy, a way of life.

For us at Montecalvi, following the biological pattern is crucial for several reasons. We are a family business. We live here and drink the wine we make here and eat the produce we grow here. It is important for us to know that they are free of harmful substances. We also want to respect and preserve as much as possible the land and the environment around us-for ourselves first and foremost, but also for the team working at Montecalvi and all the customers who visit us and for all the people who will succeed us.

Organic farming is not easy; it presents several challenges-it requires attention and some skill. You must keep a constant eye on the vineyard and time to make timely decisions, and you must contend with nature without the use of easier products available on the market. Sometimes you are forced to grit your teeth.

Nevertheless, we are convinced that growing organically is not only the right thing to do but has also made our wines taste better. I think you will agree.
